[gelöst] boot failure nach upgrade auf 11.4

Hallo!

Auf meinem Lenovo 300 N200 habe ich ein upgrade von 11.2 auf 11.4 vorgenommen.
Das upgrade habe ich nicht per Yast, sondern mit Hilfe des Isoimages zur Netzinstallation durchgeführt. Danach zeigt mein Notebook folgendes verhalten:
Beim booten mit dem Default Kernel bleibt der Bootvorgang sofort hängen und der Rechner reagiert auf keinerlei Eingaben mehr. Beim Booten in den Failsafe Modus fährt er ohne murren hoch. Wenn ich danach den Rechner neu starte (soft reboot), fährt er auch ohne Probleme im normalen Modus hoch.

Bislang habe ich noch keine Berichte über so ein Problem gefunden und habe leider auch keine Ahnung, wie ich mich dem nähern soll. In

gibt es keine Einträge, die einen Fehler dokumentieren.

Ich wäre erst mal für Tips dankbar, wie ich mit der Diagnose weiter komme.

ich hab ein "ähnliches" Problem: kann Suse 11.4 nicht installieren, weil die Tastatur blockiert ist. :???:

Da liegt der Fehler. Die MADT Tabelle gibt Auskunft über den Prozessor.

Der Workaround bzw. die Lösung ist:

Die Bootoption "noapic" unterbindet den Zugriff auf die MADT Tabelle. Der Zugriff auf diese Tabelle bringt deinen Rechner zum Stillstand, weil keine MADT Tabelle (siehe Bug) verwendet wird und somit ein Speicherzugriffsfehler entsteht. (In diesem Fall: Zugriff auf eine Speicheradresse, die nicht existiert).

Die Option "noioapic" trägst du entweder beim Systemstart manuell in das Feld Bootoptionen des Bootmenüs oder fügst sie in der /boot/grub/menu.lst in der Zeile mti den Kernelbootparametern ein.
Die zweite Möglichkeit wäre, im BIOS zu überprüfen, ob die Möglichkeit besteht nur die ACPI MADT Tabelle zu verwenden bzw. ein BIOS Update zu machen. Dein BIOS ist immerhin schon 3 Jahre alt.

Seither habe ich versucht herauszufinden, wie ich meinem Laptop ein BIOS upgrade verpassen kann. Von Lenovo wird nur eine Flashsoftware angeboten, die unter Windows XP oder Vista läuft. Nun ist Linux auf meinem Rechner das einzige installierte Betriebssystem. Auf der Suche nach einer Lösung habe ich nur Howtows gefunden, die mit einem DOS Image arbeiten.

Hat jemand noch einen Tip oder muss ich tatsächlich Windows XP installieren, um das BIOS zu flashen?

Mit dem DOS Image (Free Dos) flashen (Diskette,CD, oder USB). Mit den mtools und/oder dem Dosemu kannst du dir eine Bootdisk erstellen.

Ich habe die Dateien von dem heruntergeladenen BIOS mal extrahiert. Neben dem ROM-Abbild sind da einige DLLs und EXE, die Windows XP oder Vista voraussetzen. Da habe ich Sorge, dass ich mir mein BIOS komplett zerschieße, wenn ich die mit einem DOS-Image kombiniere.

So, nun habe ich tatsächlich mal kurz Windows XP installiert und mein BIOS geflasht. Leider ist hat diese Maßnahme keinen Erfolgt gebracht.

Falls noch jemand Vorschläge zur Diagnose oder Behebung des Problems hat, wäre ich sehr dankbar. Ca. 4 Bootversuche/1x starten nerven ganz schön. :/

Die exe und ddl Dateien sind das Programm, dass die Bootdisk erstellst und hat nichts mit dem eigentlichen BIOS am Hut.

Nun habe ich das Problem ja so umgangen, dass ich für den Augenblick Windows in meine swap Partition installiert und das BIOS Update von Windows aus durchgeführt hatte. Danach habe ich die Partition wieder als swap formatiert und es war, als wäre nichts gewesen.
Nun ist das neueste verfügbare BIOS (2009) installiert. Geändert hat es allerdings nichts.
