Hallo Leute, als bisher eher aufmerksamer Zuleser melde ich mich nun mit einem Problem:

Das Update verschiedener Rechner meiner Familie von Suse 10.0 auf 10.2 verlief sehr wechselhaft........ Ein alter Pentium war völlig unproblematisch,
mein Rechner Asus A7N8X /Athlon/Nforce (ohne Sata usw.) hatte mächtig Schluck-auf und beim Rechner meiner Tochter Asrock K7S8X (Athlon/SIS5513) habe ich es inzwischen völlig aufgegeben und nach etlichen Versuchen (auch mit 10.3) wieder 10.0 installiert.

Die Probleme der beiden Rechner sind ähnlich:
Bei der Installation bleibt der Rechner beim 1. Reboot hängen. Mit List und Tücke gelingt es die Installation zu beenden (entweder mit Yast auf der Konsole oder von Anfang "failsafe". schon beim Einlegen der Installations - CD´s dauerts immer ewig bis die CD erkannt wird, und einlegen und zu schnelles "ok" klicken provoziert richtige Hänger. Während der Asus Rechner nach dem Einspielen der Updates und des Nvidia Treibers halbwegs stabil läuft und nur noch beim Einlegen einer CD Kunstpausen benötigt, friert der asrock Rechner regelmäßig ein.

Erst dachte ich die Probleme rühren von dem SIS 5513 CHipsatz des Asrock her aber nach den selben Problemen am Asus mit dem Nforce Chipsatz weiß ich nicht mehr weiter. Ich hoffe, dass ich in diesem Forum richtig bin, aber so ein klassisches Installationsproblem scheint es mir auch nicht. Verschiedene Boot - Optionen habe ich getestet aber ohne den wirklichen Durchbruch.

warum auch immer sollen updates bisher wohl immer noch problematisch verlaufen
und unvorhersehbares nach sich ziehen

während eine neuinstallation doch zu meistern sein sollte

also 10.2 ist das beste was ich mit einem linuxsystem am laufen hatte.

du hast auf das vermurkste update wieder 10.0 installiert wenn ich richtig gelesen hab.

Oder hattest du mit einer neuinstallation genauso wenig erfolg?

Versuchs mal mit "acpi=off".

Und irgendwie kommen lauter ATAPI Fehler vom cd/dvd Laufwerk.
Bist du sicher, dass dein Installationsmedium OK ist? Stimmt die md5sum?

Wenn die Fehler so auf beiden Maschinen kommen, dann ist einfach nur deine SuSE CD/DVD hinüber würd ich sagen.

Herzlichen Dank für eure Tip´s nur leider muß ich euch enttäuschen....
DVD und CD´s iso´s sind ok, selbes Fehlerbild bei beiden Medien, alle Installationen waren Neuinstallationen, acpi =off apic abschalten (grub), apm abschalten (grub), dma für hdc/hdd (dvd+Brenner) abschalten ohne Erfolg.

hast ja auch geschriben das es bei dem ältesten rechner ok war
also werden die cd s oder die dvd schon in ordnung sein

aber mit einer neuinstallation auf frisch formatiertem hd bereich wird es funktionieren

ich hatte ein ähnliches problem mit einer openSUSE beta die ich einwandfrei installieren konnte und einer anderen DVD die partout nicht zu installieren war

bleib hart und besorg dir eine amdere DVD von openSUSE 10.2 aus einer anderen Zeitschrift oder zieh sie dir aus dem netz

die suse live die du auch aus dem netz bekommst kann dir auch weiterhelfen

nur aufgeben darfst du nicht

meine antwort ist technisch gesehen schwach

aber ich habe so auch heute ein wirklich tolles 10.2 am laufen das mich so stark beeindrckt hat wie nichts dergleichen zuvor

also - ich bin zwar nicht weiter kann aber schon wieder ein paar Sachen ausschließen:

Zu den Installationsmedien: CD`s und DVD sind direkt von Open-suse und sauber.
die atapi - Fehlermeldungen beim Einlegen einer CD tauchen auch mit dem Vanilla Kernel auf
die atapi Fehlermeldungen tauchen auch im runlevel 3 auf !!

und das heißt für mich, die Ursache muss in einem der Module liegen, die für die "grundsätzlichen" Funktionen verantwortlich sind, oder an einer Bios-einstellung. Da das ganze aber noch unter 10.0 hervorrangend läuft ohne am Bios zu schrauben tippe ich auf ersteres.

nein dsl 2000 - was ist z.B. mit program zum automatischen mounten der Cd´s / DVD´s ist daran etwas verändert worden beim Sprung von 10 auf 10.2 ? gibt es da irgendwelche Optionen ?

Mit einem Mediencheck überprüft (bzw. die MD5SUMs überprüft)?
Mal langsamer gebrannt?

Auch mal ein anderes Laufwerk eingebaut?
IDE-Kabel überprüft (=> Steckverbindungen)?

Mal ide=nodma und/oder insmod=ide-generic als Bootoption versuchen.

Liebe Leute auch wenn der Beitrag nach "Update und Installationen" verschoben wurde so sei es hier noch mal gesagt "ich habe nicht primär ein Installationsproblem".

die Option insmod=ide-generic war insofern sehr hilfreich da mir jetzt mehr klar ist wo das Problem liegt:

Beim Einlegen einer DVD kommen jetzt keine Fehler mehr, das System bleibt nicht hängen, allerdings wird die DVD auch nicht automatisch gemountet.
CD´s funktionieren (haben sie vielleicht auch vorher /nicht getestet)
Ich habe zwei Laufwerke im Rechner:
ein DVD von MSI 16 max(hdc) und einen Brenner von LG GSA 4120b (hdd)

Mit dieser veränderten Problembeschreibung habe ich dann auch mehrere Beiträge gefunden aber bisher noch keine Lösung. Für mich macht es den Eindruck, als wenn der automatische Mount - Vorgang zu schnell erfolgt.
will sagen das Laufwerk hat keine Zeit selber herauszufinden was es da eigentlich im Bauch hat und gibt daher die Meldung "bin beschäftigt = busy" raus.

Die Frage ist für mich daher im Augenblick: worin unterscheidet sich das automatische Mounten von 10.0 zu 10.2 - 3 und gibt es Einflußmöglichkeiten?

habe auch noch nie module bei der installation mit einbinden müssen

was ist mit dem support ?

Nach all den Mühen musste ich nun feststellen, dass es sich um eine "Unverträglichkeit" der Suse 10.2 mit meinem DVD Laufwerk von MSI handelt. ( Modell D16 MS-8216) Ein neues von LG tut es jetzt tadellos.
Einen entsprechenden Hinweis auf der Hardwareliste oder noch besser bei den Releasenotes hätte ich mir gewünscht.
Auch bin ich etwas enttäuscht, da sonst die Abwärtskompablität eine der großen Stärken von Linux war.

Zweites Laufwerk war auch MSI
Abwärtskompatibel = alles was bisher von Linux unterstützt wurde läuft auch weiterhin.
und bei so was "billigem" wie einem IDE Laufwerk hätte ich das nicht erwartet !!!
