Hama USB-WLAN-Stick läuft nicht mit openSuSE 11.0

Hallo,
ich habe die Suchfunktion (und Google) bereits seit STUNDEN ausgiebig genutzt, komme aber dennoch nicht weiter :-( ...daher bitte ich um eure Hilfe.

Ich habe ein USB-WLAN-Stick von Hama (ralink-Chipsatz) und nutze openSuSE 11.0 (mit KDE 3.5). Der USB-Stick wird in YAST unter den Netzwerkeinstellungen (und auch in den Hardware-Informationen unter 'YAST' -> 'Hardware') zwar erkannt, dort steht aber (in den Netzwerkeinstellungen), er wäre "nicht verbunden". In den Netzwerkeinstellungen habe ich den USB-Stick nur soweit eingerichtet, dass ich sage, ich will DHCP nutzen und er soll "hot plugged" eingebunden werden. Die restlichen Einstellungen (Netzwerkname, WPA-PSK etc.) habe ich im Knetworkmanager konfiguriert.

Was noch etwas komisch ist:
1. Wenn der Knetworkmanager läuft und ich in YAST den USB-Stick konfiguriere (wie gesagt, nur die oben genannte Mindestkonfiguration), so stürzt der Knetworkmanager ab.
2. Wenn ich im Knetworkmanager meinen WPA-PSK eingebe, so wird das Passwort anscheinend als Hash-Wert abgespeichert. Ist das normal oder wie genau heißt das Feld/Formular, wo ich mein Passwort eintragen muss?
3.Der Knetworkmanager findet kein einziges Netzwerk (wenn ich versuche, eine neue WLAN-Connection einzurichten). Daraus schliesse ich, dass mein WLAN-Stick wirklich noch nicht richtig konfiguriert ist bzw. irgendwelche Treiber fehlen (den Wrapper zum einbinden von Windows-Treibern habe ich NICHT installiert, genauso wenig wie andere sonstige WLAN-Treiber).

Was muss ich machen, damit mein WLAN funktioniert? Zum WLAN kann ich noch sagen, dass ich Kanal 7 ausgewählt habe und das der Netzwerkname sichtbar ist. Bin kein Linux-Profi und kenne mich mit Linux nur rudimentär aus.

Wäre suuuuuper glücklich, wenn mir jemand helfen könnte. DANKE!!

danke für den Hinweis! Ich habe nun das Script laufen lassen und es wurde ein Fehler betreffend der Firmware festgestellt. Was muß ich jetzt machen, wie geht's weiter?

Dennoch kriege ich keine Connection zum WLAN-Router hin. Yast gibt (wie zuvor) in der Netzwerkkonfiguration immer noch folgende Info aus:

802.11 bg WLAN (Nicht verbunden)
BusID : 2-2:1.0

Konfiguration der Netzwerkkarte nicht möglich, weil das Kernel-Gerät (eth0, wlan0) nicht verfgübar ist. Dies wird zumeist durch fehlende Firmware (für WLAN-Geräte) verursacht. Zu Einzelheiten s. die dmesg-Ausgabe.

Ich verzweifel noch an diesem Problem. Habt ihr jetzt noch eine Ahnung, woran es liegen könnte?!?

Soweit ich weiß benötigt dieser Stick das RT73usb-Modul. Versuche mal das rt2500usb auf die Blacklist zu setzen und dann sollte es eigentlich nach einem Neustart gehen.

Hier die zweite Möglichkeit, falls das mit der Blacklist nicht klappt.
Du hast den Chip mit der ID 148f:2573 Ich bin mir nicht ganz sicher aber der müsste mit dem „rt73 (USB)“ laufen. Hier der Link: http://rt2x00.serialmonkey.com/wiki/index.php/Downloads
Installiert wird er mit make und make install.

PS. ich habe auch Ralink aber mit der ID 148f:2570. Bei mir läuft er mit serialmonkey Treiber.

Hallo,
der Befehl 'modprobe rt73usb' hat geholfen. Danach hat's mit dem kabellosen surfen funktioniert :)
Falls man diesen Befehl bei jedem Systemstart eingeben müßte (muss ich nicht, hab ich schon getestet), wie könnte ich diese Konfiguration automatisieren?

In yast (System - Editor für /etc/sysconfig-Dateien) unter der Option MODULES_LOADED_ON_BOOT Dein Modul rt73usb eintragen.
