CUPS nicht gestartet?

Huhu,

laut Tecchannel ( http://www.tecchannel.de/server/linux/431673/index6.html ) soll ich überprüfen ob CUPS den Back-End-Treiber erkennt und verwendet. Teccchannel sagt mir was ich machen soll wenn alles in Ordnung ist, jedoch nicht wenn alles nicht in Ordnung ist ;)

Stellen Sie zunächst sicher, dass CUPS den Back-End-Treiber auch erkannt hat und verwendet. Dazu dient der folgende Aufruf des Hilfsprogramms lpinfo:

lpinfo -v | grep cups-pdf

In der Ausgabe des Befehls sollte die Zeile file cups-pdf:/ erscheinen. Ist das der Fall, kann es an das Einrichten des Druckers gehen. Für diese Aufgabe ist bei CUPS das Hilfsprogramm lpadmin zuständig:

lpadmin -p PDF-Test -v cups-pdf:/ -P /usr/share/cups/model/PostscriptColor.ppd.gz -E

wenn ich "lpinfo -v | grep cups-pdf" eingebe, sollte "file cups-pdf:/" oder sowas ähnliches ausgegeben werden. es passiert jedoch nichts....:

Hier ist CUPS nirgends zu sehen... hmmmm...

aber CUPS läuft:

Warum so umständlich?
Wenn du Suse nutzt dann, kannst du die Drucker über yast einrichten. Fast alle Distributionen verwenden als Drucksystem cups. Wenn du eine andere Distribution verwendest, kannst du den cups-Server über einen Browser verwalten. Dazu musst du in der date /etc/cups/cupsd.conf die Rechte setzten und dann über http://<ip-des-servers>:631 eine Verbindung herstellen, Der cups-Server muss dafür aber laufen. das Kommando "ps ax | grep cups" sollte den Prozess zeigen.
