Hallo,

ich habe zu Weihnachten ein Notebook bekommen und nachdem ich mich jetzt dazu entschieden hab Vista runterzuschmeißen und als Windows lieber ein XP Pro zu installieren, habe ich mich jetzt daran gemacht OpenSuse einzurichten.
Es hat auch alles Super geklappt. Nur das WLAN will nicht so recht.

Meine LAN-Karte funktioniert Problemlos und ich komme nach anstecken des Kabels sofort ins Internet (sowohl mit ifup als auch mit KNetworkManager).
Bei WLAN ist das jedoch anders.
In meinem Toshiba Satellite Pro P300 steckt der WLAN-Chip Atheros AR9281 und ich hab bei Atheros Chips schon von einigen Problemen gelesen.
Laut http://www.heise.de/newsticker/Kernel-Log-Ath9k-Treiber-fuer-Atheros-WLAN-Chips-in-2-6-27-Lesestoff-und-Videos-fuer-Linux-Experte--/meldung/114073 sollte mein Chip mit ath9k aber Problemlos laufen.
Ich bekomme aber trotzdem keine Verbindung.

DHCP ist am Router aber aktiviert, und es funktioniert weder wenn ich DHCP einstelle noch wenn ich die IP manuell konfiguriere.
madwifi habe ich auch bereits installiert.

Hallo,

hmm... diese Seite hatte ich noch nicht gefunden. Ähnliche Aussagen wie diese sind mir aber bereits bekannt:

Mittlerweile sollten die meisten Karten mit Atheros-Chipsatz "out of the Box" mit den im Kernel enthaltenen Treibern "ath5k" bzw. "ath9k" (draft-N) laufen, weshalb es in unserer Downloadsektion keine binären madwifi-Pakete mehr geben wird. Wer unbedingt auf madwifi zurückgreifen will, der kann eine Rebuild aus den entsprechenden Source-RPMs durchführen.

Meine Funktioniert aber leider nicht "out of the Box".
wie macht man denn eine(n) rebuild ? und kann mir dass weiterhelfen?

ok das kann ich ja dann mal ausprobieren...
aber ich habe jetzt mal mit der netzwerkinstallations cd opensuse 11.1 nochmal installiert (war ja sowieso ganz frisch) und gehofft, dass sich das problem dadurch behebt.
es gab aber wieder genau das selbe problem.
jetzt habe ich wieder madwifi drauf gemacht und habe jetzt in yast bei ifup das ath9k durch ein ath_pci ersetzt. komischerweise ist jetzt aufeinmal die Karte wlan0 weg. ich habe jetzt nurnoch die netzwerkkarte eth0 und das ist die kabelgebundene.

weiß jemand wie ich die wlan0 wieder zurück bekomme?
ansonsten installier ich einfach nochmal neu und mach dann da weiter wo ich aufgehört habe!

Versuche eine Installation mit kernel-default.
Du kannst auch einfach kernel-default nachinstallieren mit Yast, dann bekommst die Möglichkeit bei PC Neustart im Grub Menü den kernel-default zu laden. Ich meine ein Versuch ist das Wert, vielleicht läuft Deine WLAN Karte mit kernel-default.

Ok.
Dann installier ich einfach nochmal neu. Ist ja sowieso in wenigen minuten erledigt.
Ich kann kernel-default testen, würde aber schon gern bei dem pae kernel bleiben, da das notebook 4gb RAM hat, die ich gern ausschöpfen würde wenn sie schon vorhanden sind.

Ich mache auch mal einen test mit ner live-cd.

Ich berichte dann von den Ergebnissen.

in der Ausgabe von dem collectscript finde ich keinen AP und keine eingerichtete Verschlüsselung

Kann es sein, daß du die Einrichtung vergessen hast? Wenn nicht, dann entschuldige bitte.

ich habe alles eingegeben.

ich habs sowohl mit ifup als auch mit networkmanager probiert. ich habe danach auch überprüft ob die daten übernommen wurden, und sie wurden übernommen.

Könnte es vielleicht sein, dass opensuse einfach irgendwie keinen zugriff darauf bekommt?

wie gehabt kommt nur eine fehlermeldung, die aber nichts mit dem dhcp server zu tun hat, sondern damit, dass einfach garkeine wlan verbinung zustande kommt.

EDIT: Hab grad nochmal rumgebastelt. egal womit ich konfiguriere (ob mit ifup oder mit NetzwerkManager), bei iwconfig werden ESSID und Verschlüsselung nicht angezeigt. Könnte DAS vielleicht das Problem sein? Kann man diese Daten vielleicht in irgendeine Textdatei eintragen, damit sie dort fest sind.

Ich vermute das Problem fast eher auf der Seite des Routers. Ist da die (absolut sinnfreie) Option gesetzt die ESSID zu 'verstecken'? Oder ähnlicher Mumpitz wie MAC-Filter usw?

Also am anfang war ESSID versteckt und ich hab WPA2 genutzt.
Dann hab ich aber gelesen, dass das Probleme machen könnte, und hab die ESSID sichtbar gemacht und auf WPA-Personal umgeschaltet.
Wies ohne verschlüsselung aussieht kann ich noch nicht sagen. ich werds mal testen.

EDIT: Verschlüsselung ausgeschaltet und es läuft immer noch nicht.

modprobe ath9k
das Modul zu "wecken" und erst dann das Kommando iwlist scan ausführen. In der Scriptausgabe fehlt z.B. die Datei ifcfg-wlan0. Die Datei sollte hier sein => /etc/sysconfig/network/ifcfg-wlan0

iwlist scan liefer bei wlan0 keine ergebnisse. verschlüsselung ist ausgeschaltet, ESSID sichtbar und modprobe ath9k habe ich auch ausgeführt:

an der entfernung kanns nicht liegen... ich habs sowohl aus 10m entfernung als auch aus 10cm entfernung getestet.

das mit dem softwareschalter ist für mich wahrscheinlich nicht relevant, da ich einen hardwareschalter habe, und die WLAN-LED immer leuchtet.
