kismet berechtigungsfehler

hi,

hab nach langem kampf es endlich geschafft meine intel 2915 abg unter suse 10.1 zum laufen zu bringen. dank eurem tollen beitrag http://www.linux-club.de/ftopic61916.html bringt er mir wenn ich die wlan-karte manuell in dem monitor mode versetzen will keine fehlermeldung mehr, deswegen geh ich davon aus das dies auch funktionieren müsste(airsnort funktioniert nun auch).
von daher sollte jetzt auch endlich kismet auf meinen notebook funktionieren.

die installation von kismet(2006-04-R1) verlief, soweit ich das beurteilen kann, ganz problemlos. nur bei der kismet.conf bin ich mir nicht sicher ob ich bei suiduser=root oder your_user_name drin lassen soll. deswegen hab ich´s mit beidem ausprobiert und bekomm jeweils folgende fehlermeldung:

Ich hatte kismet immer als ein Programm eingestuft, das man, wie div. Multimediaplayer, nicht in einem Forum anspricht. Bei Bedarf bitte meinen Beitrag löschen.
suiduser muss angepasst werden, in deinem Fall vielleicht k-gee1.
Außerdem muss "Source" deinem Treiber entsprechen.

hab nach dem Kismet-Sep-12-2006-1.dump gesucht und wollte die berechtigungen ändern, allerdings existiert das file bei mir gar nicht.

Von welchem Verzeichnis aus rufst du denn kismet auf?

Und ich wüsste nicht, warum man kismet hier bannen sollte. Das Programm ist rein passiv und listet gefundene Geräte und Verbindungen auf.

also die *tag.gz datei hab ich nach Desktop/downloads geladen und auch in selbigen ordner entpackt.
der korrekte pfad heisst dann /root/Desktop/downloads/kismet-2006-04-R1

linux-laptop:~ # whereis kismet

zum starten geb ich in der konsole halt einfach 'kismet' ein.

ich bin jetzt zum starten in das /tmp verzeichnis gewechselt und hab von dort aus kismet gestartet und es hat auch funktioniert, allerdings nur für ein paar sekunden!

dann wurde mir folgende ausgabe in kismet angezeigt:

Mach einmal zwei Konsolenfenster auf, und starte in dem einen kismet_server, in dem anderen kismet_client. Dann lässt sich die Fehlermeldung schon einmal einer Komponente zuordnen.

jetzt glaube ich funktioniert kismet soweit. dadurch das ich die dumpfiles im /tmp-verzeichnis abgelegt habe hat er immer nach paar sekunden abgebrochen. hab die andwendung nun ich meinen home-verzeichnis von meinen benutzer gestartet und nun gehts auch!

hätte noch fragen zur funktionsweise von kismet, lauscht kismet eigentlich durchgängig nach paketen in der luft oder stoppt es ab wenn es was gefunden hat? weil nämlich wenn ich ap´s gefunden habe (empfängt pro ap ca. 10 pakete) dann macht er einfach nicht mehr weiter und empfängt keine pakete mehr, daraus folgt das ich nicht sehr viel informationen über das wlan heraus bekommen kann!?
soweit ich weiss snifft kismet ja im 802.11abg bereich, aber irgendwie scannt er nur channel 1-13 aber die die channels vom a-band. gibts ja irgendwelche einstellung oder so? meine wlan-karte kann b/g und a.

Das ist merkwürdig, eigentlich solltest du volle Schreibberechtigung für /tmp haben... :?

Wenn das IEEE80211a-Band nicht gescannt wird, liegt es daran, dass du in der /usr/local/etc/kismet.conf einen "falschen" Eintrag für deinen Adapter gemacht hast. Dadurch "weiß" kismet nichts von dessen Fähigkeiten.

hab in meinem conf-file bisschen herumexperimentiert, aber bin leider nicht zum erwünschten ergebnis gekommen. am ende ging gar nix mehr
da ich aber vorher ne sicherung von dem file gemacht habe war das halb so schlimm!
