neue USB Festplatte - Fehlerhaft ?

Hallo ich hab eine neue USB Festplatte, (WD Scorpio Blue 80GB)hab diese mit cfdisk eingerichtet und
mit mkfs jeweils ntfs und ext3 formatiert. Das lief auch. ich bekomme diese aber
nicht gemountet. Stecke ich sie über ein Adapter an bekomme ich:

Stecke ich sie in den Laptop leuchtet permanent die LD. Booten mit Opensuse DVD erkennt sie auch nicht.
Auf was deutet

gehe ich recht in der Annahme das es sich um eine IDE-Festplatte handelt?
Wie sieht Deine /etc/fstab aus?
Mit welchem Befehl hast Du versucht die Platte zu mounten?
Was zeigt ein
