SuSE 10.0 friert ein, wenn man usb memory stick einsteckt

es hilft dann nur noch der netzschalter.
der stick ist ein "rundisk 2.0", 2GB, der kernel ist 2.6.13-15.18.
wenn ich den stick vorm booten einstecke, dann erscheint er im arbeitsplatz unter "media:/" als "2.1 G removable media"; eigenschaften von "/dev/sda1":
"nicht eingebundenes wechsellaufwerk". das bleibt so, auch wenn ich 10 mal "laufwerk einbinden" anklicke (wobei auch immer kurz eine anzeige "/dev/sda1 wird eingebunden" erscheint).
ich kann dateien von und auf den stick kopieren.
wenn ich auf "sicher entfernen" klicke verschwindet der stick aus dem arbeitsplatz, sobald ich ihn abziehe. wenn ich den stick jetzt wieder einstecke, ist der rechner schlagartig eingefroren.
das selbe spiel geht übrigens auch mit meinem brother hl-2030 laserdrucker;
cupswrapperhl2030-2.0.0-1.i386.rpm und brhl2030lpr-2.0.0-1.i386.rpm hab ich installiert.
weiss jemand rat?

Ich empfehle dir Update auf Opensuse 10.3, noch besser Neuinstallation.
Viele USB-Probleme wurden in der aktuellen Version beseitigt, dazu
wurde bereits Support für die 10.0 eingestellt (keine Updates mehr).

Seit Ende letzten Jahres bin ich selber von 10.0 auf 10.3 umgestiegen.
