As a mobile user, when you move your computer to a new location, you typically have to change your network settings (tcp/ip, proxy, etc.) in order to access available resources (Internet, printers, network drives, etc.). MultiNetwork Manager lets you successfully connect to foreign networks, the Internet, and local resources (on site file servers, printers etc.), regardless of where you are working.
MultiNetwork Manager defines location profiles, combining configuration components to adopt to different networking environments. The components are:
· Domain/Workgroup
· Proxy
· TCP/IP
· IP Settings
· DNS
· WINS
· WLAN
· Connection
· VPN
· Printers
· Map Network drives
· Share folders
· Run
· Mail Client
· Environment
· Registry
The core components of MultiNetwork Manager deals with switching network connectivity settings such as IP address, Gateway, DHCP, DNS, WINS, Proxy (Netscape and Internet Explorer), multiple Domain controllers and Network clients (Novell and MS).
Other components lets you set up your working environment, such as mapping and sharing of network drives, printers, registry, e-mail clients such as Outlook/Outlook Express. The run component can be used to launch location dependant applications and scripts.
The new Auto Discovery feature automatically establishes network connectivity.
A set of wizards (basic and advanced) assist you in creating location profiles.
The user interface is completely reworked with different views for different user groups.
Manager 7 features an extensive context sensitive help file.
With the MultiNetwork Manager boot time application (BTA), you can select a configuration already at startup, without having to reboot (with the exception of switching domains).
Some of the new features in MultiNetwork Manager 7 include WLAN support, a powerful component for switching custom registry entries and a robust Boot Time Application (BTA), not relying on GINA technology. Therefore it does not interfere with other applications such as the Novell client, Cisco LEAP WLAN client or Windows XP's Remote desktop switching feature.
